Sears Davies has been designing and redefining brands for the UK legal community since the late 1980’s. We pride ourselves on our depth of knowledge and understanding of how the Bar operates and the multiple challenges facing chambers’ and law firms in today’s highly competitive legal arena.
Legal Brands are the visual identities by which chambers’ and law firms want to be valued and remembered. A successful legal brand should be an expression of the ethos shared by Members, Partners and Staff, the services offered and the manner in which they are delivered to clients. Sears Davies has created, produced and continues to manage a significant number of brand identity programs for ‘magic circle sets’, merged chambers’ and law firms, both large and small. We handle the process throughout. From initial fact-finding and brand analysis to creating the full suite of marketing collateral along with ongoing brand development and special projects, Sears Davies truly is the ‘one stop shop’ for legal clients.
The days of static ‘brochure style’ legal websites are long gone, and user expectations are now far greater. The digital solutions we now create allow our clients full control of their content. From fully dynamic Members/Partners/staff profiles, Practice Areas and News, to e-Newsletters, Events & Seminar bookings, Pupillage & Recruitment, the options available to each and every client are now far-reaching and constantly changing. From striking website campaigns to user interface and experience design, our online design solutions are as individual as our clients. And while there may be a degree of commonality in the structure of a legal website, our creative process aims to highlight and enhance the personality and intellectual identity of each client.
Responsive Web Design (RWD) is an integral part of our website design process. The amount of mobile traffic now accounts for more than half of all internet traffic. RWD allows a website to adapt to the device the users are viewing it on. It provides our clients with the capability to write once, publish everywhere and, best of all, enables users to access content the way they love. As a user switches from their laptop to iPad, tablet or mobile, the website automatically switches to accommodate for resolution, image size and content display. In other words, we design and build our websites with the technology to automatically respond to a user’s preferences - we can also prioritise how the content is displayed depending on each clients’ preference. Importantly, this eliminates the need for a different design and development phase for each new gadget on the market.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is also a vital consideration when we design and launch a new client website. In 2015 Google started to boost the ratings of sites that are mobile friendly if the search was made from a mobile device. Google not only recommends RWD as the best way to target mobile users but also favours mobile-optimised sites when presenting results for searches made on a mobile device. This is especially true when mobile users search for local services.
Behind every successful branding and website project are focussed individuals who inspire others to see the benefits of good design. We are fortunate to have worked with many talented, passionate client marketing teams and it is this combined enthusiasm and will to create something special that has resulted in Sears Davies delivering many memorable and enduring branding initiatives. But not all barristers chambers or law firms have a designated marketing team. In many circumstances, the client marketing resource consists of one or two individuals, a senior clerk or a member of staff, with an eye for creativity and a desire to communicate the organisations’ unique proposition and values. As a result, Sears Davies often works as the clients ‘virtual’ marketing department, liaising with key individuals and senior decision makers to organise, create and deliver brand and website projects to an agreed timescale and budget. We also provide full design and production management of print collateral, display materials and signage as well as coordinating advertising schedules, e-marketing campaigns and event support.
